What does this mean for Akeena?
Akeena will continue as a California based installer and an authorized installer of Westinghouse Solar panels. This partnership only impacts our product company, Andalay Solar. This summer, Andalay Solar will transform into Westinghouse Solar.
We are excited about this opportunity and believe that this partnership will help Akeena reach more customers through providing panels with a name that homeowners trust, and the reliability and performance benefits they want.
Why Westinghouse and where has Westinghouse been?
For more than a century, the Westinghouse name has stood for reliability and innovation. It began in 1886, when George Westinghouse introduced the first alternating current (AC) electrical system which soon powered every American home and business. We have been a leader ever since; developing solutions that deliver safe and efficient electrical energy while introducing smart products for the home that bring comfort and convenience to the lives of millions.
With its history, Westinghouse provides immediate national and international brand recognition with a name that is known for reliability and trust. The choice was simple; Akeena could invest years of resources to develop a brand name, or partner with Westinghouse and take advantage of one of the most famous consumer brands in the world.
I am a current customer. What does it mean for my warranty?
The relationship between Westinghouse and Akeena validates the dependability and high level of quality used in our panels and our company. Customers with Andalay panels will still have the same warranty terms. However, the warranty will now be backed by the proven name of Westinghouse Solar. Customers with non-Andalay panels will see their warranty backed by that specific panel's manufacturer.
We are excited about this partnership with Westinghouse Solar. As a homeowner who has already experienced the benefits of solar, we encourage you to take advantage of our referral program opportunities and help spread the word about your solar experience and this new opportunity to go solar with one of the most trusted names under the sun.
I’m a current customer who has not been interconnected. Can I change my contract so that I have Westinghouse Solar panels instead of Andalay panels?
Like you, Westinghouse contacted us because they believed in our solar technology and thought that it could carry the Westinghouse name.
The Westinghouse panels will soon use the same award-winning technology that persuaded you to go solar. In the interim, homeowners should move forward with their Andalay purchase so they ensure that they receive their CSI rebate before it declines.
As an added benefit to our customers, the warranty of your Andalay panels will be carried and backed by the proven name of Westinghouse Solar.
When will we see change?
The Westinghouse Solar transition will take place over the next two months. We will update our website with Westinghouse information. The official unveiling of Westinghouse Solar will be in July 2010. Be sure to stay tuned for more announcements on events, news, and collateral release to come this summer!
